Migrant Crisis Presentation

Luis Eduardo Zavala de Alba has dedicated his work, and his research to international human rights and policy. He is the Founder and Executive Director of “Casa Monarcha Ayuda Humanitarian al Migrante A.B.P.” which is a migrant shelter based in Monterey, Mexico. Its mission is to welcome, protect, promote and integrate migrants, refugees, and internally displaced people while defending their human rights. The shelter started as an initiative to address the migration crisis in the region by giving food and water in the train routes. The non-profit organization grew and has received support from international organizations such as the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Catholic Relief Service, Ayuda en Accion from the Spanish Agency for Development and International Organization for Migration to continue helping migrants, refugees and internally displaced people. In 2007, Luis participated in the twelve editions of the Course on Diplomacy and International Procedures in Geneva, Switzerland. In 2019 he was invited as a guest speaker to the 9th session of the United Nations Conference against Transnational Organized Crime defending human rights of migrants through the two protocols of the Convention. Fr. Luis earned a master’s degree in international Human Rights Law at the University of Essex, and a Ph.D. in International Law at the Gregorian University.
